Gone Away (Quest Thread Thingy)

[Marius Rodomonte]

Marius didn't bother stating the fact that he had never even gotten a learner's permit or a driver's license. "Anywhere specific you want?" He asked the two girls as he pulls off of the highway to find a place to sleep for the night. "Or don't want?" The son of Hermes added as they passed a really seedy looking motel. "I have enough money if you girls would prefer something more expensive, and no, it isn't Drachmas. I actually brought along cash for food and board." He told them, remembering the problems they had with the acquisition of the car.

"Umm..." Daphne said as her eyes scanned the row of hotels outside of her window. "Not those ones," she said as she motioned towards the seedy motels. "I wouldn't be surprised if they were run by monsters.... That one!" she said as she pointed to a decent looking hotel. "I think we should stay in that one."

It wasn't long before after that they parked the car that they got a room in the hotel. Daphne opened the door to the hotel room and paused. "Two beds..." she said slowly as she walked into the hotel room and looked around before she put her backpack on one of the beds. She turned around to look at the other two. "How are we going to do sleeping arrangements? Girls together?"

Even if Marius had mentioned that he didn't have a license, it wouldn't have mattered. Ariel was someone who preferred to do things by the law ... most of the time. The daughter of Poseidon pulled a face as they drove past seedy motel after seedy motel which only made her heart sink at the thought of staying in them. When they finally found a decent one the blonde grabbed their stuff and helped move it into the room, not noticing the bed issue until Daphne bought it up. Looking up, eyebrows raised, Ariel shrugged "Whatever," Was her only reply, not really caring who she slept with or where in that particular moment.

"I'm fine with that unless someone would like to join me." Marius said with a wide smirk on his face as he made his way over to the bed closer to the front door, letting whoever took the other bed be closer to the bathroom. He set down his bag before laying down on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. His mind trying to find answers for several different questions all at the same time. The son of Hermes let out a sigh before sitting up again. "If either of you two want to take a shower, you should go now before I decide to take the bathroom for myself."

"Then let's do it by gender since it's easier," Daphne decided as she dropped her bag onto the bed and rummaged through it trying to find a pair of pajamas. "I'll shower first." She grabbed her shirt and sleep shorts and quickly went into the shower to clean the grime off of her. It wasn't long before she was out of the bathroom. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail and crawled into the side of the bed closest to Marius. Surprisingly, she fell asleep relativity quickly, but it was only a few hours later when she woke up screaming and in a cold sweat as she glanced around the hotel room.

Ariel shrugged her bag off her shoulder as she walked over to the side of the bed closest to the bathroom before sitting with one leg tucked under her and the other hanging off the bed as she rummaged through the bag in search of her pajamas. The daughter of Poseidon took the shower second, washing her hair quickly and changing ready for bed. She sat for a moment wondering to herself about what people were doing back at camp as she braided her wet blonde hair down her back. Ariel fell asleep uneasily, facing the bathroom though she had the constant feeling that something was going to jump through the door to try and kill them. Finally she fell asleep only to be woken up by Daphne screaming beside her causing Ariel to yelp in surprise and as she rolled over, fall out of bed. "Wha- What's wrong?!" The blonde asked shocked and bleary eyed as she scrambled up onto her knees looking over the edge of the bed, dagger in one hand, ready for anything.

Marius nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard Daphne scream. He had just been finishing up in the shower when he heard her, having waited awhile before starting his shower. He threw on his pants and dashed out of the bathroom to see what was wrong. The son of Hermes pulled two daggers from somewhere when he saw that Ariel had her weapon out, looking for whatever the threat was. "What's wrong?" He asked after a few seconds, not finding anything that could have caused his friend to scream like that.

Daphne's heart pounded in her chest as she reached up to wipe the cold sweat off her face. She hoped that they would go away especially for this quest, but they kept getting worse and worse with each passing day since the breakup. Daphne knew how to deal with her nightmares, but she didn't know how to deal with Ariel falling out of bed and Marius busting into the room half-naked. Daphne blushed a bit as she glanced down at the bedding and played with it nervously. "It was nothing," she muttered as she tried to advert her eyes from Marius's chest. "I was... just having another nightmare..." She pressed her lips together before she decided to come clean with them as she looked up at them sheepishly. "I've been having them a lot more since Achilles broke up with me..."

Ariel didn't look over her shoulder as she heard Marius enter the room, she just kept looking around for what had made Daphne scream being still unable to find the threat. Her fist tightened a little on the sheets balled up in her fist as she waited for Daphne to respond before a confused expression came onto her face at her first answer. Surely it had to be something to make her scream. The daughter of Poseidon stopped completely as she continued explaining. "Oh," was the first thing she thought to say in response, not having known about the breakup. Ariel dropped her eyes, pressing the shell in the hilt of her dagger to change it back into a bracelet.

"Oh," Marius said as he looked down at the floor, thinking about how him and Val had recently broken up. "Are you okay?" His daggers disappeared just as mysteriously as they had appeared. "Is there anything I can do for you?" He asked her as he scratched the back of his head and looked at Daphne somewhat awkwardly, not entirely certain what he should say. His gaze glanced over to where Ariel was, a little bit confused on how she ended up on the floor. Marius felt really awkward about the whole thing.

Daphne couldn't help but feel awkward as she glanced between her two quest mates. She had to force herself not to stare at Marius's chest, but couldn't help but notice he was looking pretty in shape for the quest. In the back of her mind, Daphne was slowly beginning to hate Achilles. How dare he leave her when he knew she needed him. This was entirely his fault that she was left like this to pick up the pieces of her broken heart.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" She glanced over back at Marius as her eyes glanced down to his lips as she mentally smacked herself. She couldn't do that. For what she knew, he was still with Valeria and the last thing Daphne wanted to be again was a homewrecker. "Umm..." she muttered as her face got red as she glanced back down at the bedding. Her mouth got suddenly dry and she had to swallow before she continued. "No... There's nothing you can do..." Kiss me. Cuddle me. She closed her eyes as she took deep breaths. "I'm fine... just a little shaken up from the nightmare... but I'll be fine."

Marius looked over at Daphne with a worried expression on his face, feeling bad that he had dragged her along on the quest during such a sad time for her. "Well, if you need anything. I'm here for you. I don't want you to deal with this alone if you don't have to." He said to his best friend before walking back into the bathroom and finishing getting cleaned up and dressed. The son of Hermes quickly reappeared in a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. His hair slightly damp as he walks over to his bed.

Daphne took deep breaths as she tried to will her cheeks not to be a bright shade of red they wanted to be at that moment. Marius was just looking... so damn good that night and if Ariel wasn't in the room at that moment... Daphne took a deep breath as she glanced away from him and towards the window. "Thanks," she muttered to him as he went back to the bathroom. She took a couple of deep breaths as she tried to calm herself down. She happened to glance over at the bathroom door at the wrong time as he stepped out once more. Her face heated up again as she quickly got out of bed. "I'm going to step outside." Daphne quickly grabbed one of her sweatshirts and put it on as she grabbed a room key and stepped out of the room. She leaned up against the wall outside the door and closed her eyes as she took deep breaths trying to calm herself down.

Marius raised an eyebrow when Daphne walked past him to go out into the hallway, barely seeing the bright red decorating her cheeks. His eyes stared at the door to the hotel room for a little while before he decided to do something. He stood up and walked out into the hallway to check on Daphne. "Daphne?" The thief asked when he saw her. "Are you okay?" He walked up to his best friend, reaching out to put a hand on her shoulder, trying to figure out something he could do to help her in some way.

Daphne managed to calm herself down as she spent those few minutes by herself in the hallway. She pushed her hair out of her face before she opened her eyes as she heard the door open. After glancing over at Marius, her face completely heated up as her heart raced. "Umm..." she muttered as she looked down at her feet as he stepped in front of her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Yeah.... I'm...." Daphne stopped in the middle of her sentence as she made the mistake of looking up at him and her breath caught in her chest. Her heart pounded in her chest as those needs from earlier came flooding back. Daphne didn't really think before she leaned in to kiss him hard for a few moments. But just as quickly as her lips touched his, she quickly pulled away. "Sorry," she muttered as she quickly pulled away from him and went back to the room with a bright red blush on her face.
