Gone Away (Quest Thread Thingy)

[Marius Rodomonte]

"Wait here." Marius told the two girls as he walked across the street into a car lot and looked around. He walked into the building and disappeared. It wasn't too long before he reappeared in one of the cars and had it started. The son of Hermes drove it out of the car lot and over to the two girls. "All right. Let's go." He told them as he pulled up in what appeared to be the most expensive car there. The doors opened on their own for the girls. "This car should work for us." He said with a smile.

[Daphne Scotts]

Daphne shifted the backpack on her shoulders as she looked over at Ariel as her best friend went over to the car dealer. "You don't think, he'll do anything... stupid... do you?" She took a deep breath as she prepared for the worst. And she really did prepare for the worst. Her backpack was getting heavier by the moment. Whatever spell the Hecate kid put on it to make it lighter was slowly wearing off. She packed for everything, especially since this was her first quest and she didn't know what to expect.

Especially what was going on now. She was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt with her brunette hair in a ponytail as she watched Marius pull up to them. "Stealing a car? Seriously?" she asked Marius as she slipped into the front seat of the car. "I'm not wearing the right clothes to steal a car. I should be wearing black." She set her backpack down at her feet as she leaned against the seat and closed her eyes. "I hope you know what you're doing." She muttered.

Ariel turned her head towards her friend, raising her eyebrows at her question in a silent answer. Of course something stupid was going to happen. They were demigods after all. The daughter of Poseidon pushed her hands into her denim shorts and shook her head slightly. "This is Marius, so ..." Ariel just left the sentence hanging in the air with a small shrug.

Her backpack was only a little bit heavy, the blonde trying to be as prepared as possible for whatever the quest might need. The weight shifted on her shoulders as her shrug moved the straps. Ariel was about to try and tell Daphne that Marius would keep any stupid things low key for the quest when her jaw dropped at the site of the car that the son of Hermes had just stolen.

Slowly the daughter of Poseidon closed her mouth, shock still on her face though before glancing down at her own outfit of a t-shirt, denim shorts and toms before shrugging and climbing into the backseat, shutting the door behind her. "You probably could have gone for something a little more inconspicuous." She said before laughing lightly and rolling her eyes.

"Nah, go big or go home. Always." Marius said with a laugh at Ariel's comment. "Besides I figured it was better than stealing a yacht again." He shrugged as the doors closed behind the girls, he started driving away from the car lot. "Besides I left a couple of Drachmas on the manager's desk." The thief told them with a smirk as they approached the freeway.

"Okay, first things first. Our best bet on finding out anything about getting rid of this curse is finding a seer to tell us more about curses themselves." Marius said. "Because I would rather not go to the two leading authorities on that subject. One is nearly impossible to get to and the other will turn me into a rodent." He glanced at the two girls before turning his eyes back to the road. "So which seer should we go and find?"

[Daphne Scotts]

"A couple of drachmas? Oh gods..." Daphne sunk further into her seat as she squeezed her eyes shut. She took a couple of deep breaths before she muttered. "No offense to you guys, but if we get pulled over by the cops, I'm running... and flying. I don't want to go to jail for grand theft auto."

She opened her eyes as she glanced out the window to watch the passing scenery. Daphne listened to Marius ramble a bit as she smirked. "Hecate isn't that hard to get to... We'd have to sneak into the underworld... Harper's quest did that once..." She rested the side of her forehead against the glass as a sad smile appeared on her lips. Harper was Achilles's sister and the thought of Achilles made Daphne sad. Of course, she hadn't told her quest mates about the breakup in fear they would replace her with someone more stable.

Daphne took a deep breath before she said, "Maybe we could see one of the fortunetellers in New York. I wouldn't be surprised if a seer went undercover as that to avoid all the attention that it would give them."

Ariel gave a shrug to Marius' reasoning as she turned her head to look out the window. She'd hardly seen any of America since moving there. The only times she had been out of camp was on her way there and the time that she had gone to lunch with Rhys and his mother. The thought of Rhys immediately made her feel guilty. She hadn't exactly told him about her going on a quest. The daughter of Poseidon figured that he would only try and stop her, insisting that she still wasn't well enough which only made her angry, hence why she'd been kind of avoiding him the entire time that they were planning the quest.

A small frown formed as she continued staring out the window. She would really prefer to not have to venture into the underworld before her time was actually up, but she figured if that's what it would take, she would go. At Daphne's suggestion of seeing a fortune teller, Ariel was about to ask why when her question was answered, making her close her mouth again as she tried to think of something helpful to say. "That sounds like a safer plan." The blonde shrugged, turning to look out the window once again.

"Well, if a seer is hiding as a fortune teller then I bet one of the travelling circuses would be our best bet. I can't think of a seer that's in hiding would want to be anywhere near Olympus." Marius commented as he found a rest stop along the highway and pulled into the parking lot for it. "We should try and figure out exactly where we're going first before we get too far." He told them as he parked the car.

Marius got out of the car and opened the trunk, pulling his pack from it. He reached into one of the pockets and pulled out a laptop. He opened it and plugged a wifi port into the usb. The son of Hermes started searching for the closest locations with fortune tellers before looking at the other two. "Any other ideas?" He asked them.

"Sybil would hide out around Olympus," Daphne pointed out as she looked over at Marius. "She's known to only tell prophecies at sacred locations. And I can't think of anything more sacred here than Olympus." Daphne let the subject drop as they pulled into a rest stop and she got out of the car. She stretched a bit and walked around a bit trying to make sure her legs didn't crap. As of late, she really hated being in one spot for too long.

She glanced over at Marius when he asked if they had other ideas. "Right now, it looks like finding a seer or breaking into the Underworld." She put her hands on her hips as she looked at her best friend. "And since you have two Big Three kids with you and neither of us is a Hades kid, staying above ground would be our safest option for survival."

Ariel was staying quiet throughout the discussion, having nothing to really add as she had no real knowledge about seers. All she knew was that she wanted to stay above ground for as long as possible. She didn't fight as hard as she did for her life only to end up in the underworld anyway.

As they pulled over, the daughter of Poseidon also got out of the car, before resting her elbows on the trunk of the car and putting her chin in her hands. "I vote for staying above ground..." Ariel injected with a small smile. "Do you know where abouts Sibyl would be hanging out?" She asked, looking up at Daphne without moving her head. "It's just otherwise, we might pick a circus that won't have a seer." She gave a shrug.

"Well, there are usually articles or events surrounding fortune tellers that are actually seers." Marius said as he started found a couple of fortune tellers online and started researching them. "And if we can't find anything about them, I'm willing to bet that Chiron has heard something and we can Iris message him." He kept searching for a few minutes before finding something. "Well, it looks like someone around New York has been getting pretty popular. Let's go check them out." The thief said before closing the laptop. "I just hope we don't have to do some ridiculous task for them because of this."

At least they weren't going to the underworld, thank god. That was one thing on Daphne's list of places she never wanted to see unless she had to along with her mother's house. She did some stretches as Marius did research on his computer before he mentioned about articles on one seer. She glanced over his shoulder at his screen before he closed his laptop.

"Sounds like a good lead to go on. Better than what we have right now." Daphne walked over to her car door before she smirked a bit. "And if we had to do some ridiculous task..." She chuckled a bit as she slid back into her seat. "I think we can find something to convince them otherwise."

Ariel gave a steady nod to Marius' plan as he spoke. It all sounded like a pretty good way to attack the problems and at the mention of someone in New York, the daughter of Poseidon gave a mental sigh of relief at them not having to venture into the underworld. Though she really hoped there wouldn't be any kind of stupid task that they had to do to get the information that they needed. Though they probably would have to, they were demigods after all.

The blonde began walking back to the car as well, opening it just as Daphne spoke about convincing them otherwise which made her smile, shake her head and climb into the back of the car, pulling the door closed behind her.

Marius put his stuff back into the car and got into the driver's seat. He waited for the girls to get into the car and get ready before drive out of the rest stop and back onto the highway. He drove them in the direction of the seer. A hour or so after it had gotten dark, the son of Hermes let out a big yawn.

"Maybe we should find a place to get some sleep." He said after a few moments, feeling like he could just fall asleep right then and there. "Do you guys want to try and find a hotel or something?" Marius asked the two girls.

They drove for a long time. The battery in Daphne's iPod was about to run out so she spent the last couple of hours just trapped in her mind as she watched the scenery pass them by. She was so lost and caught up in her thoughts that Marius's yawn caught her off guard and made her jump a bit. She looked over at the Hermes boy as she knitted her eyebrows in concern. "Yeah," she said before she pointed at one of the information signs. "There's hotels at this exit. We can stop here for the night and get a fresh start tomorrow..." She sighed as she looked over at Marius. "And you don't have to do all the driving. I have my license too."

Ariel wiggled around in the back seat for a moment trying to get comfortable. Once she had that accomplished she began staring out the window until her eyes grew heavy and the daughter of Poseidon was soon fast asleep in the back seat, her head gently falling back as a soft snore escaped her.

The blonde stayed liked this for a few hours, waking up only briefly at the sound of the conversation taking place at the front of the car. "Good idea." She mumbled without opening her eyes before a small frown formed. "I can't drive. Wasn't old enough when I left home." Ariel mumbled quietly, mostly to herself as she turned her head away slightly, getting a little grumpy at the timing of her departure from her home country because it meant that she only had her learner's permit rather than a license.
