So This Is Goodbye (Jay)

Of course, since things were looking up, they had to take a dramatic downfall fast. Not only was it bad enough that Daven found out that her brother, Cody, had led the attack on the Kraken and saw it for her own eyes, now she was getting forced on some quest. Honestly, she didn't want to do it in the first place, but Chiron said it would be the only way she would bring back honor to her family name. It sounded like some Mulan bullshit since Daven didn't even pick her surname to begin with. Cody was the one who took it on and now she was the one to pay for it.

She was given about twenty-four hours get everything in order before she had to go to the outside world. She should've been packing or maybe making arrangements with her siblings, but there was one thing that stuck out in her mind: Jay. He had to know. She didn't want to leave without saying goodbye or the boy might think she was purposely avoiding him, which wasn't the case at all. So once she got her news, she made her way to the Apollo cabin without thinking twice before she knocked on the door. Hopefully, he was home or she would look like a fool.

[Jay Sun Keon]

Jay wasn't exactly doing much today, he was in charge of ensuring that the cabin was clean whilst the other Apollo cabin members were off doing whatever they did during the day. He got along with them but he didn't tend to know what they spent their days doing, they weren't exactly in the same friendship groups. Wasn't a bad thing though, siblings weren't exactly known for being best friends.

When he heard the knock on the cabin door, his eyes darted over and he sighed slightly, brushing his hands off on his jeans before walking over and opening the door. Daven was standing there and his eyes widened briefly and then he stood to the side. "Hey, come on in." He said softly to her, trying to ignore the fact he didn't exactly look suitable. His clothes were those he wears on a lazy day and they were slightly grubby. Great.

Daven waited there for a few seconds wondering if she was really a fool to assuming that Jay would be in his cabin right now. For all she knew, he could've been out doing cabin activities. Why didn't she check the schedule in the Big House? Before she could turn around and march there to check, the door opened and Daven breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it was Jay and it looked like he was the only one in the cabin.

"Hey, thanks," she said a bit breathlessly as she sidestepped passed him into his cabin. She turned around to look at him as she reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "So... umm... how are you?" she asked just for the pleasantries. Personally, she wanted to get past them as soon as possible so she could tell Jay the real reason she had stopped by.

He gave her a smile and a nod when she thanked him, shutting the door behind her and then turned to face her too. "I'm not too bad, I would ask you the same but something is quite clearly bothering you." Jay replied back to her, running a hand through his hair before taking a few steps closer to her. She was usually one to stutter when talking to him but this time she seemed as if she was just saying stuff to get to a certain topic...Or even avoid the topic as long as she could. He didn't want her to be upset either, she could talk to him about anything. If he didn't think something serious was about to go down, Jay probably would have had his hands on her hips by now but he didn't. Not yet at least.

Something was clearly bothering her? If that was the case, then she had to start working on her poker face. Not like she had one in the first place. Daven sighed loudly as she reached up to push the hair out of her face again as she looked at Jay. "You know with the whole Kraken attack earlier? Chiron's sending campers out on a quest to find something to prevent that from happening again since that's been two in the past five years." She pressed her lips together as she hesitated for a moment. She crossed her arms across her chest as she shifted a bit. "He selected me to go on the quest because my brother was the one that led it here in the first place. I'm supposed to be leaving sometime tomorrow, but I thought you should know before I went and disappeared on you."

Jay could already tell where this was going and he wasn't too keen on it. Daven's safety was pretty important to him and the whole concept of going to find something to do with a Kraken wasn't a good way to go about that safety. Now he sighed himself, rolling his eyes slightly. "I swear to the gods if you get hurt..." He mumbled, finally reaching his hands out to rest on her hips, ignoring the fact her arms were crossed. "Stay safe please. Otherwise I'll have to kick Chiron's horse ass." Jay joked, giving her a reassuring smile. He was worried for her but he had to believe she would be okay, otherwise he'd tear himself apart and she hadn't even left yet.

It looked liked that Jay was taking the news just as well has Daven had, if not worse. She pressed her lips together as she looked up at him as he mumbled something about her getting hurt. That would be a thing, wouldn't it? Daven was so focused on other things that she didn't realize that she was going to be outside of camp which meant monsters and other enemies. But Jay did put his hands on her hips as she uncrossed her arms to rest her hands on his upper arms. "I'll try," she said as she shrugged her shoulders a bit. "I mean... I don't know what all we're doing. I overheard Chiron mention something about Boston. Boston shouldn't be that bad, right?"

He smiled when she placed her hands on the top of his arms, rubbing her hips gently with his thumbs. "Good." Jay replied back to her. She said she'd try to be safe but that didn't exactly mean that she'd automatically be safe. If Jay could have gone with her to try and ensure her safety then he would have without a doubt. However, worrying was not what he should be doing. "Yeah Boston is a nice place. I know there's a few good pizza parlours there." Jay lied, but not a blatant lie. He was just trying to convince her that he knew enough about Boston to help reassure her. When in reality he knew nothing at all about Boston...but she didn't need to know that right now.

Daven had to laugh and roll her eyes. This was the first time she was feeling okay, probably more than okay, since she got the news about her quest. Here she was worrying about having to leave camp and her friends, especially Jay, and he was thinking about food. How typical. "Of course you would know something about the pizza joints there," she said as she shook her head and let some of her hair fall into her face. "I doubt we'll get enough time to enjoy any pizza joints around there, but I can maybe mention it to the people I'm questing with... but I don't know if they're the pizza types." She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know though... maybe we could have time for pizza. I'm not sure about these quest things."

It was good to see Daven laughing, even if it was at Jay. Laughing was much better than having her worried about going on the quest which could potentially kill her. "Yeah well food is an important thing to think about, thank you very much." Jay replied back, being teasingly sassy with his thank you. Then once she said she wasn't sure about the quests he leaned down and pecked her lips gently. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll find time and be able to bring me home some pizza." He teased with a smirk, keeping his face close to hers. Even if they weren't dating yet Jay still knew he liked this girl and also liked kissing her.

"I'm pretty sure there's more to Boston than just pizza," Daven laughed as she shook her head. "Like maybe Chinese restaurants or maybe a McDonald's and... I don't know... maybe a good chunk of our country's history as well." She smirked up at him just as he leaned down to peck her on the lips. She giggled a bit as he pulled away as she bit her lower lips. She gave his arms a gentle squeeze as she looked up at him and returned his smirk. "Out of all the things I could bring you back as souvenirs from Boston and you want pizza?" She giggled as she rolled her eyes. "I hope you don't mind cold pizza, because there's no way I can bring back a hot, fresh pizza from Boston in a timely manner."

"Right yeah, got it. History and shit. So much more important..Also I like how you said chinese." He replied back, shrugging as if he actually did care about the history of the country they lived in when in reality he didn't at all. "I used to help run my mum's chinese place." Jay continued on, looking down at his arms once she squeezed them which just made him want to kiss her again but then again a lot of things made him want to kiss her. "Cold pizza is perfect, thank you beautiful." Cold pizza was something Jay could never decide on whether he preferred or not. It really was great but heated pizza was just as great.

Daven shrugged her shoulders as he called her out at the mention of Chinese restaurants in the area. She liked Chinese food and that was the only thing that she was pretty sure that Boston would have besides pizza and Starbucks. "You did?" she asked as she raised her eyebrows at him. "That seems pretty cool. My dad's a lawyer so I didn't get to do anything with that. They were angry all the time and liked to use big words." She giggled a bit as her eyes glanced down to his lips. They were so close right now and she didn't know how long she would go without kissing him once she was on this quest. "Then cold pizza I can do," she said before she reached up to kiss him briefly, but lingered a bit as she pulled away.

"Mhm...It was a pretty good first job. I got a lot of free chinese but lawyers are pretty cool." His eyes watched hers as she glanced down to his lips and he bit his lip gently, thinking the exact same as she was. He didn't know what she was thinking though, he just had a pretty good guess because he was thinking about kissing her too and had previously looked at her lips. "Thank you." He replied with a smile, watching her lean in to him and then closing his eyes and pressing his lips back against for the time they were against his. Once she leaned away he kept the distance between them minimal with his forehead on hers. "I love you."

Kissing Jay was great, but when wasn't it great? His lips were so soft and he was a good kisser as well. As she pulled away from his lips, she kept her eyes closed as he pressed his forehead up against hers. But then he said something that she wasn't expecting. Three little words. She opened her eyes to look up at him as she studied his face for a moment. He really meant it, which made Daven smile a bit before she said back to him softly, "I love you too." And it was something she really, truly meant even if it made the quest a little bit harder. She would be a little too eager to return home. But she didn't want to think about the quest right now. Nope. She just wanted to think about his lips on hers as she leaned in for another kiss.
