Daphne didn't know what she had gotten herself into, which was a lot of things lately. As soon as she accepted the offer of friendship, Daphne couldn't help but notice how... odd Desdemona was. Her mannerisms, her way of speaking just seemed extremely old fashioned than what was the norm around camp. But something that Desdemona said completely caught the daughter of Zeus off guard. "Really?" she asked as she tried not to let her mouth drop a little. "Thirteen years and no friends? That's... how could you survive like that?"

Anger flowed through Daphne because of how her new friend was treated. Maybe they could've been friends or allies sooner. If Daphne knew of the kind of treatment the camp gave the Nyx child... but Daphne had to shake her head because she gave that exact same treatment up until a little while ago. She took a deep sigh as she smiled softly at her new friend after she got a wink.

"I think the two of us can think up something for... something for..." Daphne swallowed as she couldn't dare force herself to say his name at that moment. "Something for him... make him pay for all he did, you know?"

Daphne laughed a bit as she rolled her eyes. "I was being a lovesick idiot too..." she mused as she shook her head. "Achilles broke up with me like a couple of weeks before I went on the quest. I was definitely one that should not have been on that quest... I really didn't think the most rationally." She couldn't help but think of the stupid things she did with Marius, but she was hurt and he was there for her... Daphne couldn't imagine what would happen if he was still dating Valeria, instead of her.

"Yeah," she said as she was shaken out of her thoughts. "Butt kicking in the arena, definitely sounds like a fun time. I haven't been there in forever. I think the Ares kids forgot who's boss." She gave a side eye to the Apollo who decided to hover just outside of the curtains. "Well, I would want it to be a fair fight anyway," she smirked as she looked over at Nora. "I don't want to go easy on you because you're injured, alright?"

“I think he had his reasons for not claiming me,” Daphne muttered as she pushed her hair out of her face as her eyes closed slightly. She took deep breaths as she tried not to let the memories of times spent with her mother to get to her. “Knowing my mother, she didn't want anybody to know what happened to me… probably said I ran away or she sent me to boarding school… I can see her doing that…”

She pressed her lips together as Jareth asked what happened between her and her mother. She turned her head slowly to look at him before she spoke, “She kicked me out because I wasn't a child of Apollo. Dad seduced my mom under the disguise of Apollo…” She chuckled a bit as she shook her head. “She should’ve known better, since I act nothing like one… but dad had to claim me after that accident since my flying powers were what saved me. Once she found out that it was a lie… she kicked me out and I went to camp. Plain and simple.”

Daphne couldn't decide if she wanted to keep her eyes open during that trip or keep them close just in case they met their doom. This was probably not one of her greatest ideas, since she didn't question how long she was going to live when she caught a ride with Apollo. It was something that Daphne preferred Apollo than the Gray Sisters right at that moment.

But they finally made it to lower Manhattan in record time and Daphne wondered how long it would take before she got her land legs again. She took Marius’s help out of the cab and tried to stabilize herself when she notice one of the sisters grabbed Marius and spoke of a base.

“Are you okay?” she asked as she grabbed Marius’s shoulder while the cab drove away. “What did she mean about a base? Are the Usurpers here?” She couldn't help but check over her shoulder and all around her wondering if anyone was watching them. “We should probably get a hotel and formulate an attack plan there.”

“No, we don’t need to pay them,” Daphne muttered as she got into the back of the musty old cab. “That’s why I threw the drachma into the street. That’s payment.” Daphne tried to get herself comfortable in the backseat as she waited for Marius to get in, but it felt like there were springs digging into her back.

“So, where are we going, darlings?” One of the Gray Sisters turned around to speak to the demigods and Daphne almost screamed. She knew what they looked like based on the descriptions in the mythology, but she wasn't expecting them to be such grotesque looking. The one eyeball didn't freak her out as much than their dire need for a moisturizer. “Umm…” Daphne stammered as she looked over at Marius as she started to second guess this mode of transportation. “Manhattan… Lower Manhattan please...”

She gripped onto the seat with one hand as she grabbed Marius’s arm with the other as the taxi took off with no regards for the traffic or speed limit.

Things were getting awkward for Daphne. She wished that it could be old times, but it couldn't, not when Jareth was still her brother. That was something that she could change back to normal. She noticed him loosen his grip on her wrists and she squirmed a bit, but not enough to get her free. All she wanted was an escape from this awkward situation.

An escape that she wasn't going to get. “No, you’re right,” she muttered underneath her breath as he moved her face so she looked up at him into his gorgeous… Daphne shook off the thought as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “We were friends before and it wasn't so hard, right? Why can’t it be like it now?” He rolled off of her as she took a deep breath as she sat up and cradled her face into her hands. “Why do the gods have to hate us?” she muttered into them.

Daphne shifted a bit as the conversation of her kidnapping arose. She thought she gotten by with just talking it out with her therapist and her ex-boyfriend. The camp seemed just satisfied with the rumors, except Desdemona. She was the first person who wanted to hear the story straight from her. Daphne turned her sword back into her necklace as she put it on. She needed her hands free so she could wrap them around herself as she glanced off to the side and bite the corner of her lower lip.

"It was... wrong," she said as she glanced back at the Nyx girl as she rolled up her sleeve. Daphne eyed the cuts as she glanced up at the girl while she decided whether or not to accept her apology. Where they really that alike? Daphne never thought she would share similarities with someone she considered her enemy or at least a relative of her enemy. But it felt wrong. Xenos should have been the one apologizing to her, not his sister. It felt like a cop-out.

"Being possessed by the shadow demon was the worst torture I've ever been through," Daphne muttered as she decided to look at the girl in the eye. "Having no control over your body, but watching everything the demon did... It was torture. I tried to fight back... but I was weak. I was released from its control when your brother died the first time around... I still have nightmares about it. I hated that I felt so helpless during that entire time."

Daphne took a deep breath as she glanced down at her feet. "I won't forget what that demon did while it was in control of my body. I try to repress it, but the memories always find their way back."
