Gone Away (Quest Thread Thingy)

[Marius Rodomonte]

"Guess we should try both." Marius said before handing his key over to Daphne, having already lost to her on who gets to drive the car. "I still want to drive." He muttered to her before moving to sit in the passenger side of the car, remembering with a smile on how she got him to agree to it finally. "And I still hold firm in my beliefs that you are extremely more underhanded and mischievous than me when it comes to coercion." The thief told her with a fake pout as he folded his arms.

Daphne smirked a bit when Marius relanquished his key and she slid into the driver's seat. "Not until you feel better," she snipped at him as she tried the first key. "Especially with that leg of yours." The first key didn't go in, so she tried the second key, which just slipped right in. "There we go," she muttered as she turned the ignition. The car turned over and softly purred as it waited in the garage. She glanced over at Marius and had to keep herself from laughing as he pouted. "I'm the Hermes cabin best customer, remember?" she teased him before she pulled out of the garage. "Where are we heading to now?" she asked as she pulled out onto the road.

"You would have better knowledge on which of the wind gods is closest." Marius said to her with a slight shrug and look around the car, seeing if there was anything useful in it. He finally gave up before grabbing his pack and digging through it to find his map. A frustrated look appeared on his face as he rifled around in his pack before throwing it at the floor. A particularly nasty curse in ancient Greek past his lips as he realized what happened. "The map's gone." The son of Hermes told his friend with a slightly annoyed look, feeling even more stupid about the bull's attack.

"Hmm..." Daphne hummed to herself as she pulled out of the road and started driving away. She was heading towards the highway, not really paying attention to Marius rummaging through his bag. She was about to pull onto the ramp leading to the highway before Daphne slammed on the breaks. "What?" she shrieked as she glanced over at Marius with wide eyes. She slowly started to feel herself panic as she tried to take deep breaths. "DC," she muttered after a while as she slowly nodded her head. "We need to go to DC...Eurus is there... he should be able to help us..." She pressed her lips as she glanced around. "We just need a highway that takes us to DC... but we don't have a map..."

Marius looked over and her and watched Daphne for a little bit before getting an idea. It would probably get him in trouble and he would probably need a very long nap afterwards, but he couldn't think of anything else right then. "I'll be right back." The son of Hermes told her with a smile before getting out of the car, looking around to memorize his surroundings, and promptly disappearing into thin air. A couple of minutes later, he reappeared and nearly collapsed against the car, staggering and leaning against it and taking a few deep breaths. "I got a map." He said with a grin before getting into the car before he did actually fall over.

Daphne finally put the car into park as she turned off the engine. She glanced around the area seeing if there was a sign or whatever that would point them to DC. She glanced over at Marius as he got out of the car before she slunk back into her seat. She heard a soft pop and sat up as she glanced around outside. "Marius?" she called out when she noticed that her best friend wasn't there. She opened the door and got outside to look around. It was only a couple of minutes when he reappeared again. "MARIUS!" she screamed out startled as he staggered and leaned against the car. "What the Hades were you doing?" she cried out before he got into the car and collapse. "Gods..." she groaned as she leaned in situation him on the seat so he was reclined and in a comfortable position. "I swear I'm going to be your nurse for the rest of this quest," she muttered to him as she grabbed the map and studied it. She quickly identified the nearest highway that would take them to DC and she climbed back into the car and drove off.

"I went to get something from my cabin." Marius said with a chuckle, regretting teleporting that distance twice so shortly. He laid his head back and looked over at her with a smile. "That map is pretty important. I didn't think we'd need it so I left it back at home." The thief told Daphne as he felt the exhaustion from using his powers in such a grand scale quickly catch up to him. "It can't find almost anything in the world. Things hidden in the underworld or similar locations can't be found like that though and somethings that are powerful enough to hide themselves won't show up on it." He explained. "So we won't be finding any gods with this thing."

Daphne rolled her eyes and kept looking at the road. "Marius," she sighed as she looked over at him. "Just rest, okay?" Worry showed in her eyes. "I don't like that you traveled that far for a map right after you got injured." She turned onto the correct highway and merged in with the traffic. "Just sleep, okay?" she said softly to him as she pulled into the far lane and started to speed. "It's going to take a couple of hours to get there... and you really need to recover especially if we're going to be in the presence of a god... and several politicians."

"More worried about the politicians than any gods." Marius murmured with a soft laugh at his own joke before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He sat there for a while trying to stay up with her, but he was fighting a losing battle and it was obvious there was nothing he could do about it. "Fine, I'll sleep." The son of Hermes relented as he moved slightly to get a bit more comfortable. His smile remained on his face even as he fell unconscious. His hand falling to the seat before he started to softly snore.

Daphne smirked a bit as she kept her eyes on the road. She kept driving like this until he finally gave in and she heard soft snores coming from his side of the car. She chuckled a bit as she glanced over at him. "Sweet dreams," she muttered to him as she kept driving.

It was only a couple of hours later and it was starting to get dark as Daphne pulled into DC. "Marius," she said as she reached out to gently jostle him awake. "We're here." She looked around the city as she drove through the streets. "Should we try to find him tonight or get a hotel?"

Marius groaned as Daphne woke him up, feeling like he hadn't slept for the past month. "Huh? What?" The words came out as barely more than a mumble as he opened his eyes and slowly sat up. The Joker had made his presence know in his sleep once more and filled them with various images and ideas that he shook his head to try and get rid of. "A.." He started as he processed what she said. "A hotel. I don't know if we can even get to where he might be at night anyways. At least, not with me so distracted."

Daphne narrowed her eyes at Marius when he was waking up so funny. "Okay," she muttered to him as she pulled into the lot of a nice, but cheap hotel chain. "Here we go," she said as she parked the car and opened the car door. "Stay here," she told him as she went inside the lobby to check in. It was a couple of minutes before she came back out and opened Marius's door. "You're in luck," she said with a bit of a smirk. "We're in the first floor so you can crash just as soon as you can." She reached over him to grab her bag before she reached out to grab his hand. "C'mon. You need sleep if we're going to see the god tomorrow."

Marius yawned and smiled at Daphne when she told him that they would be staying in a room on the first floor. "That's good. I can't wait to sleep in an actual bed." A deep red blush spread across his face when the Joker conveniently decided to put very graphic ideas for her into his head. He turned away and hoped she didn't see the bright blush on his face. "I hope he's not too hard to find." The son of Hermes muttered, hoping to distract her and keep his embarrassment from her as he got out of the car and walked with her to their room.

Daphne didn't catch Marius blush as she waited him to get out of the car before she walked him to the room. It was only down a hallway and around a corner away from the lobby before they reached their room and Daphne opened the door. She paused at the door as her eyes widened a bit. "Umm..." she muttered as her face went red as she glanced up to Marius. "I thought they said this was two beds... not one..." She groaned as she leaned up against the door. "And it was the only one they had." She sighed as she tossed her bag onto the floor as she glanced up at him. "I can sleep on the couch if you want the bed."

"There is no way I'm letting you sleep on the couch just to let me have the bed. If you want me sleeping on a bed because of my injuries, then you get to share it with me." Marius said with a frown, ignoring his previous embarrassment. "It's either that or I get the couch. I'm not negotiating about this, Daphne." He didn't like her plan at all. It made him feel bad that he would force a girl to lie down on a couch for him. "So which one are we going to do?"
