Gone Away (Quest Thread Thingy)

[Marius Rodomonte]

Marius glanced around the room and at Daphne before turning back to the god in front of them. His mouth felt dry as he tried to figure out how to answer the question he had just been asked. "What sword?" He finally managed, thinking that he should know the answer to that question. The thief glanced over at his companion real quick and gave her a flash of a reassuring smile to try and keep her calm.

"What? You don't even know that much?" Eurus asked with an incredulous expression on his face. One of his hands moved to run through his wet hair, slicking it back. "You really are a hopeless case then, aren't you?" The god closed his eyes and gave an exaggerated sigh before looking at Daphne. "How do you even like someone so clueless?" He asked the daughter of Zeus.

Daphne looked over at Marius confused and worried at the mention of a sword. She had no clue what sword the god was talking about and those lectures her mother would give her were no help. A magic fleece? Yes. A sword? Nothing stood out to Daphne. She gripped Marius's hand a little harder as Marius flashed a grin at her. She weakly smiled back at him before looking at the god once more.

"Why do we need a sword?" she asked him sounding braver than she actually felt at that moment. She ignored what the god said about Marius being clueless. He was egging her on. In her gut, she felt like he was trying to start something. Maybe.. maybe this really was a bad idea.

Erus laughed as he waved his hand towards Marius. "Of course you would need it. You need something to kill the crazy inside of him and lift the curse." His laughter slowly turned into a chuckle as he narrowed his eyes at the two of them. He rested his elbows on his desk and brought his hands up to his face and rested his fingertips against each other. Behind his hands, an evil smile slowly appeared on his face as the cloud above him turned a dark gray and started to thunder.

"However," he chuckled to himself, I never did like that Luke kid, so I wouldn't mind if the entire Hermes cabin remained cursed... forever..." At that moment, little clouds started to surround them which slowly shaped into small and furious bears. Daphne squeezed Marius's hand as she looked over at him with wide eyes that said, We need to get out of here now.

Marius's eyes widened when he heard what Eurus had told him about the sword and his feelings towards his cabin. His mouth opened slightly as he went to say something before stopping himself as he noticed the cloud bears and the look on Daphne's face. "Well, I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm afraid we have to go now." The thief told the god as he grabbed his companion's hand firmly and teleported them both away.

They reappeared in the middle of the lobby of the building they had just met Eurus in. "This isn't right. I meant to get us back to the car." Marius said before hearing a loud laugh. "Did you really think it would be that easy to escape a wind god?" He turned to see said god, floating above them with his cloud bears looking down on the two demigods.

The last thing Daphne saw before Marius teleported them away is the evil smile on Eurus' face. Daphne stumbled into Marius once they got to their destination. If there was one thing she wasn't used to, it was this teleporting thing. She gripped his shirt with her free hand as she tried to steady herself before she opened her eyes.

"This isn't the parking lot," she muttered to Marius as she looked up at him before looking over at the wind god and his army of the cloud bears. Daphne counted them in her head as she slowly backed away tugging on Marius. "There's at least fifty of them," she muttered to her partner before she glanced over her shoulder. In a brief moment of rashness, she let go of Marius's shirt to tug him to the nearby door to escape.

She swung open the door to find that vicious looking demigods were blocking their path. They forced themselves in as Daphne backed away. "We're trapped..." she muttered to Marius as her hand went up to her necklace as she gripped the medallion, ready to fight.

Marius glared around at the enemies surrounding him and Daphne, cursing under his breath as he pulled out a pair of long daggers, almost swords in length. He glanced at Daphne to make sure she was okay before looking up at Eurus. The son of Hermes made sure to keep his eyes on as many enemies as he could, not wanting any of them to attack Daphne. "I have a plan." He muttered to his partner before looking around again, memorizing the room as best as he could. "You won't like it."

The next thing he did surprised everyone in the room as he rushed at the demigods directly under Eurus. Marius's face was set in a grim expression as he swung at the first enemy and disappeared. A cry was heard in the back of the crowd and then another on the other side of the room. This went on for nearly a minute before he reappeared next to Daphne. His blades and hands dripping with blood.

"I..." His breathing is labored as he spoke to her. "I... think I got about... half of them." The thief told Daphne as he looked around the room. More than a few of the enemy demigods on the ground now.

"You won't like it." was the last thing Daphne heard from Marius before he left her side. She immediately yanked off her necklace and a sword appeared in her hands as she glared at the enemies while her heart raced. She kept catching glimpses of Marius before she heard a demigod scream and fall to the ground. Before she knew it, he was back by her side with his daggers dripping with blood. Her eyes widened as she looked up at him. "H-Half?" she stuttered as she glanced over at the demigods. There were fewer of them to begin with, but there were still those cloud bears lingering around. "This doesn't look good..." she muttered underneath her breath as she tried to ready herself for possibly her last battle ever.

But a bright light appeared that made Daphne squint and shield her eyes. Once the room returned to its normal brightness, she moved her eyes to see what happened. Eurus was gone, but in his place were two other Olympians: Apollo and Aphrodite.

"Of course he would chicken out when the fun was about to start," the goddess of love laughed as she waved her hand and the remaining demigods were tied up together and gagged. Apollo just chuckled as he snapped his fingers and the teddy bear clouds were dissolved into sunlight. Daphne felt her heart thump in her chest as both gods turned to her and Marius. "Now... about you two," Apollo said with a bit of a smirk.

Marius kept his knives at the ready as he looked at the two gods. "Who are you two?" He asked them as he moved to make sure he was in between them and Daphne. "Gods aren't supposed to interfere in fights between demigods. Who are you?" The thief was very wary of the two figures that had supposedly saved the two of him.

Aphrodite just smirked at the two demigods and made her way over to them. "Don't be naive, boy. Of course, it is us. It wouldn't be the first time we've broken the rules for mortals that we like, and Zeus forbid, it won't be the last." Apollo nodded at the goddess's words, obviously agreeing with what she was saying. "Plus, it would be particularly bad for us if you two were to be finished off here." The god of song added as he snapped his fingers and the demigod attackers suddenly disappeared.

"Then why help us?" Marius asked after the gods had explained themselves. He didn't let his guard down though, still more than a little wary of the two very powerful beings in front of him. The thief wanted to at least keep Daphne safe from them.

Daphne's heart started to pound in her chest once she realized who was standing right in front of them. A little bit of red started to outline her vision as she cursed Marius deciding to stand in front of her. If she had her way, there would be two less gods on Olympus tonight. She blamed both of them for ruining her life and she wanted them to pay for it. Marius was there questioning the two gods in front of them.

"Aphrodite has no issues meddling in demigod affairs," Daphne hissed over Marius's shoulder as venom dripped with every word. "Except she makes a horrible therapist." Aphrodite looked shocked for a minute over Daphne's words, but a small smirk crept onto her lips. "My dear," the goddess started with a light laugh. "Everyone loves a tragic love story. You just happen to be one of my favorite heroines."

Apollo just rolled his eyes as he waved off the impending cat fight with his hand. "Along with what Aphrodite said, you two have an important destiny that I should make sure you two see through. Besides," he said with a little bit of a chuckle, "I find you two amusing and fun and we need more demigods like you."

"Why should I accept help from the two of you?" Daphne hissed as she narrowed her eyes at the gods. "Both of you have ruined my life. I have no reason to use your help."

Marius glanced back at Daphne, wondering exactly what she was talking about/accusing the gods of. His grip on his knives tightened, not exactly trusting that even if they were the gods Apollo and Aphrodite that they would stop with just the demigods who ambushed him and Daphne. He did relax his stance a little bit though, hoping it was enough to keep the gods from getting insulted. "Not to sound rude, but I have to agree with the pretty lady behind me. Demigods who associate with you two tend not to survive very long, so I'm going to have to decline your very timely help for now." The son of Hermes said with a very insincere smile.

A laugh came from the goddess of love as Aphrodite put a hand up to her mouth. "My dear boy, do you really believe you have the choice to refuse our help? We like you too much to not interfere." Apollo grinned and just nodded in agreement before disappearing and suddenly reappearing right in front of Marius, making the thief nearly jump out of his skin. "Well, this is no good at all. He's much closer to losing it than we first thought. We're going to have to give them a lift." Marius paled at those words, not liking any of the sentences that the god of prophecies just said. "T-that won't be necessary. We can get where we need to be just fine." Marius said as he tried to keep himself from one of Apollo's crazy ideas.

The gods were talking, but the only thing that Daphne could hear was the blood rushing in her ears. She took deep breaths as she gripped her sword a little tighter. It took everything in Daphne's power not to take out both of them or die trying. Aphrodite would occasionally look at her and smirk like she knew this was killing Daphne. "Damn gods," Daphne muttered underneath her breath as she kept glaring them down.

However, what the sun god said about Marius completely caught her off guard. Her stare softened as she looked at Marius with shock and disbelief. "Marius... is that..." she started off, wondering if her best friend was being completely honest with her about everything. Her heart was racing, but for a different reason as she heard Apollo offer them a lift and Marius refuse it. "No," she said quickly as she looked at Marius before looking at the god she hated the most. "We'll take it." She gulped as she slowly nodded her head wondering what the Hades she just got Marius and herself into.

Marius turned around and looked at Daphne like she was crazy. "Haven't you heard about how he tends to help demigods?" He whispered to her, not feeling at all okay about this plan of hers. "I don't know if I want to have to go through with something like that." The son of Hermes told his companion as he glanced back at the two smiling gods, trying not to shudder at the though of riding in Apollo's chariot.

"Come on, don't be like that." The sun god said as he suddenly appeared over Marius's shoulder and put a hand on the other one. "You'll be perfectly safe. Nothing bad ever happens to demigods whenever I give them rides." He gives a quick nod of his head as if confirming for everyone that he was right.

"It's the best chance we got," Daphne sternly whispered back to her best friend. "You're close to losing it and we need to get there as soon as possible. I am not losing you because of you being stubborn. Other demigods have done it and they've ended up just fine."

Just at that moment, Apollo decided to appear over Marius's shoulder and Daphne jumped a back a bit as her heart raced. Truth be told, she didn't like the idea either, but what choice did they have in the matter? Aphrodite smiled and nodded her head along with Apollo as she looked at Daphne with a smirk. That smirk only made Daphne grow sick at the thought of what the goddess had planned.

Apollo snapped his fingers and his chariot appeared, but it quickly turned into a Corvette. "Everyone in." he ushered as the demigods took a seat in the back. Daphne had to close her eyes as she squeezed Marius's hand as the car took off. She so didn't want to be in this situation at all, but she really had no choice.

It wasn't long before the car landed in front of camp. Daphne opened her eyes and knitted her eyebrows together when she saw where they were. "Why are we here?" she muttered to Marius.

"You two need to refresh your supplies," Apollo said as he opened the door for the demigods. Daphne quickly got out, wanting to be far away from Apollo as possible. Once they were out, the sun god closed the door behind them and pointed in the direction of New York City. "And the sword you're looking for is that direction. And I think it's by Olympus. Have fun destroying it." He smirked as he turned to Aphrodite. "And we should probably get going."

"Just one more thing," Aphrodite mused before she snapped her fingers. Daphne's scalp tingled a bit before her hair turned back to it's natural blonde color. "Much better," Aphrodite chuckled before turning back to Apollo. "Now we can go." And the two gods vanished before Daphne had a chance to protest her new hair color.

Marius stepped out of Apollo's chariot feeling slightly queasy. It seemed he was right about not wanting to catch a ride with the sun god, who Marius was almost certain was more than a little crazy. He backed away from the gods, wanting to keep his distance from them until they left. The thief turned to look at his best friend, eyes widening in surprise to see her hair turned back to its natural blonde color.

"That was horrible." He told her after the gods had left. "I don't ever want to ride on that thing again." The son of Hermes looked around where they had landed, surprised that none of the campers had noticed anything. "You think someone would be surprised to see a flaming, flying sports car."

Daphne reached up and fingered a strand of her newly blonde hair. She stared at it for a couple of seconds before she swore under her breath and let go of it. "She seriously only came to change back my hair. That goddess is whack," she spat out as she crossed her arms over her chest as she looked at Marius with raised eyebrows when she noticed his look. "It... doesn't look bad, does it?" she asked as she subconsciously reached up to play with that one strand again.

She took a deep breath as she faced camp. "I dunno... maybe they were scared of it and ran towards the other direction?" As far as Daphne knew, the world was slowly going crazy. She took a step towards camp as she nodded her head in the same direction. "We need to get going. I know I have to refresh medical supplies since that encounter with the bull used up quite a bit of it."

Marius shook his head at Daphne's question before giving her a brilliant smile. "It looks great, Daphne." He tells her as he admires her new hair color for a little while longer. His mind suddenly worked through quite a few ideas, now that they were back at camp. Maybe I can use this time to leave her here. She'll be a lot safer at camp than out there with me. I don't want to hurt her because of this damn curse. "Okay, while you do that I'll go check with Chiron and ask if he has any ideas on where this sword would be." The son of Hermes gave his best friend a big grin. "And also check if the Hephaestus cabin has any new toys."

Marius watched Daphne walk towards camp for a few seconds before running to catch up with her. "I'll meet you back in front of my cabin, Okay?" He asked her as he turned to go to the big house to see if Chiron was there. His eyes glanced back at her before he stepped into the building, hoping he wouldn't have to search too long for the sometimes elusive centaur.
